Remembering Dr. Peter Van Orman, Founder of ENT Specialists

We are sad to share that Dr. Peter Van Orman, who founded ENT Specialists, died on October 18, 2026, at the age of 92.

In 1966, Dr. Van Orman and his partner, Dr. Les Silverstein, opened the ear, nose, and throat practice that became ENT Specialists. What started with two surgeons grew into a practice with several offices serving patients across southeastern Massachusetts. Every patient we see today is part of the work he began.

A Surgeon and a Mentor

Dr. Van Orman was an otolaryngologist and surgeon. He studied at MIT and Columbia College before earning his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. Over his career he cared for patients at Norwood, Brockton, Goddard Memorial, and Cardinal Cushing hospitals, and served on several hospital committees.

He also mentored a number of younger physicians as they started their careers.

Beyond Medicine

Outside the office, Dr. Van Orman was a woodworker, a rider who competed in three-day eventing, a sailor, a squash player, a skier, and a reader. He and his wife, Beverly, were longtime members of Allin Congregational Church in Dedham, where he served on the finance committee. He also spent time in the Mahone Bay community in Nova Scotia.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and by his sister and extended family.

Services

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at 11 a.m., at Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Allin Congregational Church, 683 High Street, Dedham, MA 02026.
