Your initial allergy consultation includes a thorough medical history review and physical examination of your ears, nose, and throat. When skin testing is appropriate, the complete two-step test takes about one hour for adults. Children have a one-step skin-prick test that takes about 30 minutes. Blood testing may be an option for patients who cannot have skin testing. After testing, we discuss your results and a personalized plan, which may include allergen avoidance, medication management, and — for environmental allergies — sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT).
