Snoring & Sleep Apnea

About

Snoring is a common problem, and may be a sign of a more serious sleep disorder called obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Features suggestive of OSA include snoring, excessive daytime sleepiness, witnessed apnea (breath holding spells), gasping and/or choking at night, morning headaches, poor sleep quality, feeling un-refreshed in the morning, impaired attention and concentration.

The potential health risks of OSA include an increased risk of developing high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Untreated OSA has been linked to shortened life span, increased risk of motor vehicle accidents, increased risk of occupational injuries, and decreased quality of life (for both the patient and bed partner).
